proteins are an essential part of your diet – if you don’t get proteins, sooner or later, you’ll drop dead. This is because the body cannot manufacture all the amino acids to build its own proteins. These “essential amino acids” need to be taken up in your diet.
That doesn’t mean you need some fancy protein supplements, though. Just what’s in your normal diet. Proteins are in meat, milk, in beans, … the list goes on.
Hi kira1998,
You need protein in your diet. You can get this from meat or other sources such as lentils. As Toby says, the proteins provide the essential amino acids you need to live.

As the others have said, proteins are essential for your diet. For example, when I culture human cells we include the amino acids from proteins in the media that is used to grow them in. Without these, the cells would not survive.
Too much protein can be a problem as you’re probably eating too many calories so may get fat. Also some diets like the Atkins diet which has lots of protein and little else is bad for you as it misses out some essential nutrients from other food.

Potentially, yes. Diabetes comes about when the body can’t properly control their sugar levels. And too control the sugar levels, the cells need certain proteins. So if you get too little or too much of some of those proteins, then yes, you might get diabetes (it’s treatable though, so you’re unlikely to die).
PS: I should point out that the proteins that control sugar levels are made by your own body and have nothing to do with proteins you eat (if that’s what you meant by “too much protein”). Too much of certain proteins produced by your body can lead to diabetes, not eating too much proteins.
