Question: Thank you for answering my question about diseases on genomes, so are you just generally looking at genomes for further research to be carried out or do you have a particular disease in mind?

  no, I don’t really have a particular disease in mind – I’m just generally interested in how things work in the cell. It’s possible that somehow down the line my research turns out to be relevant for disease but that’s very difficult to predict. In truth, my research is not very “applied”, but I don’t mind. I think a better basic understanding of how the cell works will eventually allow us to make new connections that people hadn’t even thought of before.
