On a daily basis I work with a few different types of cells.
I work with colon cancer and breast cancer cells as these have lots of my protein, Reptin, in them. But I also use non-cancerous cells sometimes to look at how they react to what I am doing to the cancer cells.
It really depends on what you are working on.
When I was working on antibodies I used CHO (Chinese hamster ovary) cells but now I am working on cancer I use colon cancer cells.
I really like working with my colon cancer HCT cells as they grow quite quickly which means I can do lots of experiments with them. Also some of the ones I use have a protein called p53 which is related to cancer removed which means I get a look at how things change in the presence and absence of p53.
